Arts Cheyenne is a 501c3 nonprofit established in 2012 to oversee arts advocacy, programming, and education in our community.
Our mission is to create opportunities for community enrichment through arts and culture programming and advocacy in the Laramie County area.
What we do
Arts Cheyenne started as an organization to help support arts and culture initiatives in the Cheyenne and Laramie County community. Over the past 13 years, we have grown our organization to ensure that we can support the needs and strengths of artists, makers, musicians, performers and creatives of all kinds.
- At the Creativity Center, we work with emerging and professional artists alike, ensuring that there are opportunities for growth, education, and community among all creatives in Cheyenne.
- Through the Cheyenne ArtHaus, we bring arts to new and different events and activities around the area, sharing arts with a new audience each time.
- The annual Cheyenne Arts Celebration is not only a opportunity to spend a day reveling in the local arts and music scene, but also supports artists and musicians in their creative passions.
- The monthly Cheyenne Artwalk keeps our community connected through experiencing new art and support arts businesses each month.
- Public art in Cheyenne has grown exponentially over the past 10 years, and we are excited to help support this environment through thoughtful placement, maintenance and connectivity around each work.
Our Impact
Our History
Arts Cheyenne was founded in 2008 by community members seeking an organization that focused on arts in our community. In 2012, the organization hired it’s first Executive Director, Bill Lindstrom. During Bill’s time, programming and advocacy initiatives were set that paved the way for Arts Cheyenne’s growth and capacity. Notable programs over the years include the 17th Street Arts Festival (now the Cheyenne Arts Celebration), the Fridays in the Hynds/Asher concert series, the Emerging Artist Program, and the public painted Piano Program.
Bill retired in 2024 after 12 years as our leader, and Desirée Brothe became our new director, setting a new tone and era for the organization’s growth and trajectory.
