Cheyenne Creativity Center 1620 Thomes Ave, Cheyenne, WY, United States

If you don’t mind getting a little messy, there is nothing more satisfying than getting down and dirty with charcoal and discovering the beauty of black and white and every value in-between!

Working with charcoal can offer you a way to produce moody landscapes as well as gorgeous portraits and still life drawings. The main purpose of this class is to teach beginners the process of creating work based on value, but experienced individuals who are looking for a refresher are welcome to join. In this class you will learn about the different types of charcoal, blending tools, and techniques to produce a value scale and experiment with these materials before making a charcoal still life drawing. We will also discuss blending, subtractive drawing, observational techniques and composition.
