Printmakers & Printmaking

Cheyenne Creativity Center 1620 Thomes Ave, Cheyenne, WY, United States

Over the last few years, printmaking has risen in popularity here in Cheyenne. Organizations like Cheyenne Makers+Creative and Arts Cheyenne, coupled with businesses like Freedom’s Edge Brewing have all hosted linocut and other printmaking workshops, helping to drive the popularity and understanding of the medium.

What we’ve also found is that there are a lot of printmakers in the area–and the work of these artists goes beyond linocut to include many other forms of printmaking. For our June exhibition at the Cheyenne Creativity Center, we are seeking works of art from local and regional printmakers, in any printmaking form, so long as it is of their original designs. Accepted works include wood cut, linocut, monoprinting, and the intaglio families of etching, engraving, drypoint, and mezzotint, lithography, and collagraph and more!

Summer Art Camp: Urban Sketching

Cheyenne Creativity Center 1620 Thomes Ave, Cheyenne, WY, United States

Urban sketching is the art of capturing your personal vision of your immediate world, and the places you travel to. It is a narrative of everyday life from that cup of coffee that you drink in the morning to the streets that you walk by during the day. Urban sketching allows for a natural curiosity about the world, as well as developing your power of observation, to come to fruition.

This will be a walking course, where the workshop will start at the Creativity Center with brief instruction, then participants will head out around Downtown Cheyenne to sketch! We’ll come back together to see what we accomplished for the evening. Water-based media/materials will be provided, unless you have a sketchbook you’d like to work in. Don’t forget a jacket and comfortable shoes!

This session is part of a 3 part series this summer, called ‘Summer Art Camp.’ The staff at the Creativity Center is interested in providing art-based experiences that bring the people and the assets of our community together. We hope you enjoy this series!
