Capital City Art Show

The four area Cheyenne High Schools welcome you to the second annual Capital City Art Show! Featuring over 800 pieces of original artwork, this show does a great job and showing off our local students' unique talent.

Show will be available for public viewing April 11-14th from 8a-5p and April 15th from 8a-12p
Awards will be presented to students on Friday, April 14th at 5pm

Still Life Open Studio

Join local artist, Steve Knox for a drop in, open-studio style still life workshop. ‘Still life’–where items from everyday life are arranged and used as the subject matter for a painting, drawing etc. – is one of the oldest types of subjects depicted in art throughout the centuries. In these sessions, Steve will be on hand to answer questions, offer suggestions, and to work right alongside participants as they work on their own depictions of our collection of still life items.

Sketchbook Sessions

‘Sketchbook Sessions’ are monthly events for open worktime for artists to drop in and work in their sketchbooks. This is a great time to plan out a project, do some simple doodling, and talk art ideas with others. Sketchbook Sessions will be facilitated by Artist Desirée Brothe, who will be on hand with a daily sketchbook prompt!

Basics of Acrylics

This workshop will cover a variety of methods and techniques for using acrylic paint to achieve a wide variety of results. Acrylic is an incredibly diverse paint, especially when paired with special mediums that can improve texture, slow dry time, or be thickened for 3D effects. Participants should prepare a small 5x5 sketch or doodle to use as a reference for a finished product
