ABout the Tour
The inaugural ‘Cheyenne Studio Tour’ is a free, self-guided tour featuring some of Cheyenne’s most talented up and coming and professional artists. This event offers the community a way to experience visual artists in their natural habitat–their studio, the place where all of the work comes to life!
This event will feature artists throughout the Cheyenne/Laramie County area, where artists are asked to provide demonstrations and educational displays about their work. Works may be for sale, and include any and all media from jewelry, to painting, to fiber, sculpture, music, and more.
The event is supported in part by a grant from the Wyoming Cultural Trust Fund and from Visit Cheyenne.

Studio Tour Artists!
Cheyenne Civic Center
Tour Location: 2101 O’Neil Ave
Parking is located on 20th Street and in the surrounding area. This site is ADA accessible.

At the tour, you can expect to see artwork examples from Civic Center staff, and see spaces such as the backstage, woodshop, tech room and more.
Cheyenne Creativity Center

Parking is located in the lot across the street in the parking lot. This site is ADA accessible.
The Cheyenne Creativity Center is Cheyenne’s local arts center. We host monthly rotating gallery shows, a gift shop featuring artworks for sale, and weekly workshops.
Pop-up artists will be located in the workshop area for the tour.
Clay Paper Scissors
Tour Location: Location: 1513 Carey Ave

Clay Paper Scissors Gallery & Studio was founded in 2009. The gallery shows a wide variety of contemporary artwork, primarily but not exclusively by Wyoming artists.
Clay Paper Scissors features a welcoming, well-lit environment of a variety of works. The back of the gallery hosts creative space for Camellia El Antably and Mark Vinich.
Danielle Kirby Fine Art
Tour Location: Home studio, 8320 Powderhouse Rd.
Parking is located on the north side of the drive, in the grassy area. Please follow navigation signs to the studio area. The studio is not ADA accessible.
A celebration of the untouched West — timeless, and much of it the same as it’s been for generations — my work highlights my preoccupation with the skies and landscapes of the American West, including the animals that live there. I have a particular soft spot for the vast, empty plains of southeastern Wyoming: a perfect stage for the drama of the clouds and colors of the expansive sky. My paintings lead with strong color and contrast, focusing on presenting the wildlife and landscape of the West in an romanticized way. Oil paint is my medium, and I work from compositions I create in Photoshop from multiple reference photos.
Danielle’s studio is a fun mix of display and practicality that allows her to work in multiple sizes and on multiple projects at a time.
Dante Lumsden

Dante is a comic book artist and illustrator, creating short stories in the western gothic genre. Through digital work, as well as the occasional ink and marker drawing, they craft tales on the open plains about the unusual, the unnatural, and the otherworldly. A lover of monster horror since childhood, they seek to make art that is as scary as it is vibrant.
Dante is a former tenant of the Cheyenne Creativity Center studios, and will be once again joining the Center as a pop-up artist for the tour.
David Martinez
Tour Location: Home Studio, 1821 Copperville Rd.

I build and repair custom guitars for local and regional musicians. I also have a 6-color screen press set up, make stickers and custom stencils, and do woodworking.graphite and tinted charcoal.
David’s studio space sprawls through his home in the best way possible: everywhere you look there’s something cool happening, being built or going on.
DOnna Black

Watercolor has emerged as one of my favorite mediums, offering a unique blend of unpredictability and control. It is kind of like diving into a pond; at some point you just have to jump in! Once committed, just keep moving that water around swirling through the icy cold spots and pleasantly warm ones. It is always surprising and invigorating. With much practice and playing, you can learn a million ways to control areas that need it. I tend to work fast and messy-with music and, of course, a few dance moves thrown in there!
Donna will be joining the Cheyenne Creativity Center as a pop up artist for the tour.
Fine Art by Angela Jones
Tour Location: Home Studio, 1113 Scott Ave.

Angela’s artistic repertoire primarily features charcoal, watercolor and pastels. She has recently been revisiting materials used in her youth as well as exploring new material such as colored pencils, tinted
graphite and tinted charcoal. Angela draws boundless inspiration from the wildlife, and other animals as well as the picturesque landscapes of mountains and plains she explores with her family.
Angela has a dream studio set away from her home, which allows her to isolate and get into the zone at ease. Her space is well equipped to make a wide variety of artwork.
Jake Williams

I’m a self taught artist that likes to dabble between different mediums, oil being my primary preference to work with. I always tend to accidentally revert towards a “realism/contemporary realism” style whenever I go into my works, which vary between subjects that generally have significant and spiritual meaning to me. From being inspired by the cosmos, to Wyoming landscapes, to fish and birds, etc… I pretty much wing it and paint what I’m feeling in the moment!
Jake will be joining the Cheyenne Creativity Center as a pop up artist for the tour.
James Overstreet

As an artist, my work focuses on creating bold, colorful, and emotionally engaging imagery that strengthens community identity and creates meaningful connections between people and place. Inspired by the landscapes, culture, wildlife, and spirit of the American West, I approach public art as an opportunity to transform everyday spaces into vibrant, welcoming experiences that inspire curiosity, pride, and connection. Through expressive color, painterly texture, and storytelling, my goal is to create artwork that leaves a lasting positive impact within the community.

Magpie + Mostly Wanted

Desirée’s work focuses on symbolism from folktales and dystopia, and centers around birds, feminine forms and humanity, utilizing commentary on a sense of place in culture. Her media includes painting, printmaking, illustration and mixed-media sculpture.
Michael’s work explores the intersection of art and technology through printmaking, 3D printing and other mixed media.
Desirée and Mike share a studio space where multiple media, projects, and ideas are on display and in motion at any given time.
Maren Kallas
Tour Location: The Majestic, 1603 Capitol Ave Suite 211A
Parking is located on Capitol Ave and surrounding streets. This site is not ADA accessible.
My work centers around landscape and liminality. I tend to gravitate towards reclaimed surfaces such as antique ceiling tiles or discarded window sashes. Depending on the surface material, I use a variety of paints, from enamel to watercolor. My landscapes are done in plein air style, which means that the sky and space in front of my easel inform the colors and shapes of the finished work. My work is rooted in exploring spiritual themes of death, rebirth, and the Great Mother.
Maren’s studio is a quiet, peaceful space located on the 2nd floor of the majestic, where she can practice multiple art forms in one space.
Open Door Studio & Gallery

Open Door Studio and Gallery is home to three working artists. Georgia Rowswell is a fiber artist who uses discarded clothing and household textiles to create artwork inspired by Wyoming’s geology and landscape. Dave Rowswell creates jewelry out of rawhide and he is the creator of Crisper Critters, a journey into imagination, whimsey and laughter. Denise Hawkins is a fine art photographer and watercolorist. Together they exhibit their work at the gallery while also rotating in the work of other local and regional artists.
Open Door Gallery is a welcoming and well-lit environment that hosts a variety of media and works on display and in progress.
Renee Piskorski

My paintings are inspired by nature, and the western way of life. I work from photos, plein air, and imagination. I hold memories spent outdoors in Wyoming very dearly, and often bring these lifetime memories to the canvas. Working mainly in oils, I suppose my style is realistic impressionism. I hope to convey my love of the west, it’s wildlife, people and places as honestly and sensitively as I possibly can.

ROcky Mountain Bronze

Carey Hosterman’s business Rocky Mountain Bronze Shop is the premiere bronze foundry, bronze finishing and art transportation shop of Cheyenne, providing service for projects from miniature bronze sculpture to monumental bronze sculpture. We provide bronze foundry service for sculpture, bronze welding, aluminum welding, stainless welding, and stainless sculpture services. Carey Hosterman is known for sculpting unique bronze sculptures in a variety of sizes.
Rocky Mountain Bronze is a mecca of sculptural processes, techniques and imagery throughout the facility.
ROn Swearingen

I create because I must. I am intrinsically addicted to the never ending art journey of learning, problem solving and working with my hands; giving back to the world pieces of myself through my artistic interpretations. My inspiration comes from the vast landscapes and wildlife of my home state of Wyoming, as well as the state’s western traditions. The immediacy of the pastel medium, along with its pure, sparkling pigment, has made it my primary medium. I also enjoy oils and gouache for plein air painting. I like to paint a variety of subjects, and sometimes in different styles depending on what my muse is telling me. Bold color use is a signature of my work because it just happens; no need to fight what comes natural. I hope people will receive a fresh sense of joy when viewing my work.

Sandie Whitman

Self-taught oil painter, Sandie Whitman, paints a range of subjects, from still-life and figurative to animals and landscape, with a singular goal: to learn. As a perpetual student she tries to understand the relationship between light, form, color, texture, edges and line by carefully and constantly observing the world around her. Her process working primarily in oils is ever evolving, striving to accurately depict more than the subject at hand but also evoke feeling.
Sandie is a member of the Oil Painters of America, the Portrait Society of America, the National Oil and Acrylic Painters’ Society and the American Plains Artists.
Sandie will be joining artists at Steve Knox’s studio as a pop up artist for the tour.
Steve Knox

For me, art is a storytelling medium—each adventure is an opportunity to convey a unique narrative. I aim to present these stories through unconventional means, ensuring that each work is not just a visual representation but a dialogue with the viewer. The historical artifacts and natural elements that influence my creations are more than mere subjects; they are integral to the narrative fabric I weave. My passion lies in the ability of art to convey meaningful stories and emotions. Through my exploration and depiction of Wyoming’s ghost towns, wildlife, and adventures, I strive to offer a fresh perspective on the landscape and its history, inviting viewers to join me in discovering the hidden stories that lie within the state I call home.
Steve’s studio is a treat for finished and in-progress works, and features not only his painting studio, but additional workshops for projects. He is generously hosting several other artists in his space for the tour.

The Lincoln Cheyenne is a 1200 capacity world class music venue in a historic theatre. We host all genres of live music, comedy and other events. When is it taking place?
The Cheyenne Studio Tour is on Saturday, September 12th from 10am-5pm.
Join us for the opening reception during Artwalk on Friday, September 11, 2026 from 5-8 pm at the Cheyenne Civic Center.
How do I see the studios?
Participants interested in seeing all the studios will have access to a digital and paper map for the event, released the week before the event. From there, you can create your own self-guided tour to take you to each location. Each location will have art demos and will talk about what they do in their particular space. Paper maps will be available at the reception on September, 11th, as well as at each participating location.
Why is this happening?
Our goal is to bring more awareness to the artists, musicians, and creative businesses and organizations in our community. But we don’t want you to just see their work, we also want you to understand how they make it and what drives them. We want you to see first-hand the creative process that makes Cheyenne and Laramie County so unique. Plus, seeing creative spaces is always interesting, and we’re all a little nosey.
Studio Tour events like these are held all across the country, and our neighbors to the south boast several very similar events during the spring and summer.
