Urban Sketching: Postcard Style

Join us for an immersive urban sketching workshop where we capture the spirit of Historic Downtown Cheyenne. This workshop is for anyone wanting to sketch more and capture the narrative of everyday life; no experience needed. Urban sketching allows for a natural curiosity about the world, as well as developing your power of observation.

This workshop will focus on a postcard style to capture the authentic scenery of our city. Learn techniques to convey the bustling energy of our downtown area and unique architecture. Whether it’s charming cafes or our western inspired streets, unleash your sketching skills and create memorable watercolor postcards that tell stories of Cheyenne’s charm!

Zig-Zag Journal

In this class, you’ll immerse yourself in the art of journal making, starting with the magical process of dyeing papers using coffee, tea, salt, and vibrant fabric dyes. With expert guidance, you’ll adorn the soft canvas cover of your journal, infusing it with your unique style and personality.

As you assemble your book, you’ll gather the dyed papers into sections, each destined to become a chapter in your masterpiece. The innovative Zig-Zag design offers versatility, allowing you to create a journal with dual purposes. Whether you envision it as a cherished diary and photo album or a multifunctional sketchbook and planner, the possibilities are boundless.

Sketchbook Sessions: Nature & Botanicals

This month, meet us at the Cheyenne Botanic Gardens and explore all the gardens has to offer! Learn different ways of looking at and identifying plants, and how to document all of their peculiarities. We’ll combine all of our findings into one unique detailed observational page.

Oil Paint Basics

Step into the vibrant world of oil painting with our immersive workshop designed for beginners. Whether you’re an aspiring artist or simply eager to explore a new medium, this class is your gateway to unleashing your creativity on canvas.

Led by experienced instructor, Steve Knox, this workshop covers the fundamentals of oil painting from start to finish. You’ll learn essential techniques such as brushwork, layering, and blending, as well as the equipment needed for execution in the medium.

Through hands-on demonstrations and still-life practice, you’ll discover the unique properties of oil paints, mastering their rich textures and luminous effects. This workshop invites you to embrace experimentation and the joy of painting with oils. Join Steve on this creative journey through the world of oil painting.
